How did you hear about crossfit?
I’d heard about it through word of mouth, Chris Musto, Andy Jepson, Antonio Masone (previous/current members of the gym). I didn’t exactly know what it was but I knew it was a brutal workout.

What is your occupation?
Air Traffic Controller at New York Center
(no I’m not in the tower)
((no I’m not the guy with the flashlights))

What are your interests outside of crossfit?
Always loved sports, I’m a Jets, Mets, and Islanders fan so I’m used to misery. I’m also a pretty big nerd and play video games and DnD. Most of my free time is spent being a Dad though.

One or two words to describe yourself?
Quiet/Shy but also outgoing? I don’t know how to describe myself lol

How long have you been at PCF?
I started early 2019 for a few months and then took a well deserved year+ break, but I’ve been back 5+ days a week since October 2020

What do you like about Port Crossfit?
I like the people, the coaches, I’m a huge fan of your 9:30am class and your air conditioning. (inside joke) But seriously, I don’t think we realize how lucky we are that we get to workout with coaches who have BEEN TO THE CROSSFIT GAMES SANCTIONALS or are LITERALLY DOCTORS. You guys are amazing. And the people I get to work out with are so friendly and supportive. It really is a family. Love you guys.

What is your favorite WOD or lift?
I like all the Olympic barbell movements, it’s stuff I never would have done myself without learning it here. Theyre fun and challenging and I like seeing slow/steady improvements.

What have you achieved since starting at PCF?
Oh jeez, so many things. When I was first coming I was doing black band pull-ups, I’m doing weighted ones now. I can use the “big boy” plates when doing barbell stuff. I started with a strict press and now I’m at deficit HSPU’s. Every day I get a little better than the last and that’s what keeps me coming back.

What does your weekly training schedule look like?
I’m usually in there 5x a week. If i can get time on the weekends it’ll be more, but post Covid work schedule has gotten in the way of the weekend classes.

How important do you feel nutrition/lifestyle choices play a role in performance and aesthetics?
Its paramount. There’s no other way to put it. You can’t have one without the other.

What would you like to accomplish?
When i first started i just wanted to see my abs for the first time lol. Now it’s more about just being just a little bit better today than yesterday. I spent years smoking and drinking and not taking care of my body, and now that I’ve knocked that off I really want to see what I’m capable of. No excuses, just keep going forward.

What suggestions or piece of advice can you give to anyone who has just started their Fitness or crossfit journey?
It takes time, but as long as you are CONSISTENT, you will see the results you’re after. You have to be really honest with yourself though. It’s not the workout or the gyms fault if you’re not losing weight or getting in shape. When you really start holding yourself accountable it makes being consistent easier, and when you stay consistent you can achieve any goal you set for yourself.
