Member Spotlight: Nicole Sooknanan

How did you hear about crossfit?
I heard about Crossfit from a friend that I work with.  The intensity of the workouts really peaked my interest.

How long have you been at PCF?
It’s hard to believe, but this month marks 5 years at PCF.

What do you like about Port Crossfit?
First and foremost, the camaraderie amongst the members makes PCF a great place.  The programming of the WOD’s and the support from the coaches keeps me motivated.

One word to describe yourself:
Driven

What have you achieved since starting at PCF?
At 36 years old, I am the fittest I have ever been.  My most recent achievement is being able to complete chest to bar pull-ups.  Overall, my time at PCF has taught me how to have a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

What would you like to accomplish?
My next goal is to complete handstand push-ups as well as improve my gymnastics movements all around.

What are your interests outside of CrossFit?
Outside of PCF, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters.  We love being outdoors and working in our yard when the weather is warm.

What do you do for a living?
I am an assistant principal at John F. Kennedy Middle School right here in Port Jeff Station.

What is your favorite WOD or lift?
While I do not have a specific favorite WOD, I enjoy metcons with a mix of weights and gymnastics movements. My favorite life is any type of squat.
